College and Career Mission
We are committed to empowering all students to make well-founded decisions about their life choices and their post-high school options. Students will have the knowledge and skills needed to qualify for and succeed in the post secondary job training and/or education necessary for their chosen career.
Goals
Students will develop a deeper knowledge of themselves and post-high school opportunities. We support students through counseling to help them plan for the future and transition to high school. Through mentoring and personal growth students will develop a pathway for their future and becomes advocates for their success in school and life.
Community
Patrick Henry Middle School works with our community to provide enrichment experiences for our students through field trips to high schools, colleges, museums, and other organizations. These experiences open students eyes to future possibilities and prepares them to become global citizens.
College Planning Resources
- Explore and plan for college, get information on the SAT, PSAT, and AP exams. You can also take practice tests and challenge yourself with the SAT question of the day.
- Explore and apply to any of the 116 community colleges located in the state of California.
- Get Information on how to apply for the ACT and how to access ACT scores.
- Learn about the California State University (CSU) system and apply for admission. The CSU system has 23 campuses throughout the state of California.
- Learn about the University of California (UC) system, including how to meet admissions requirements for each of the nine campuses offering admission to college freshmen.
- Take a virtual tour of a college campus.
- Search over 1,000 public and private colleges and universities. Apply to schools directly from the Common App site.
- The NCAA provides information to the student athlete who plans to play college sports. Know what the eligibility standards are.

- Explore the U.S. Bureau of Labor's K-12 webpage to learn about careers that relate to your interests, the economy, and jobs.

- Explore career opportunities in California with interest assessments. You can also search jobs to learn about salaries and training/education requirements.

- Learn how you can enter the United States military as an officer or enlisted member.
- Find out how you can become an Explorer with the L.A. County Fire Department's youth program.

Patrick Henry Middle School is fortunate to have a partnership with our local university, CSUN.
California State University, Northridge is a vibrant, diverse university community of 39,816 students and more than 2,000 faculty teaching in 8 colleges, sited on a 356-acre campus in the heart of Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley.
